5.0 out of 5 stars Saeco Xelsis Review, July 7, 2010
By
Ed Santos (Orlando, FL United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Saeco Xelsis SS Automatic Espresso Machine, Stainless Steel (Kitchen)
I have (now you can say had!!) the Saeco Primea Touch Plus. I mainly make cappucinos. With the Primea, I had issues with the milk temperature (too cold) and no milk foam. Also, the cleanup was a pain.
I decided to try the Xelsis and I am glad that I did. So far I have had the machine for about two weeks and it is a winner. The milk comes out hot and the foam is perfect (looks like micro-foam done by a wand). It is easy to maintain and has worked flawless. The only negative is that the drip tray is kind of small but is it very quick and easy to empty. If you are looking for a quick and easy cappucino this machine is for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Xelsis will change your life., December 12, 2011
This review is from: Saeco Xelsis SS Automatic Espresso Machine, Stainless Steel (Kitchen)
I've had this machine for a few months and I now look forward to waking up everyday. Before drab boring dark coffee please pull the trigger.. But now Every Time I see it do its thing ,I'm amazed by its engineering. I just changed the setting to the lowest milk, strongest coffee w/ longest pour and its nice and strong. I got mine for a killer deal on eBay try to look around although good luck trying to pay under 2k. Is it worth it 2k to change your life I think so. Everyday I'm sipping the perfect cappuccino thinking to myself life is good.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent!, July 12, 2011
This review is from: Saeco Xelsis SS Automatic Espresso Machine, Stainless Steel (Kitchen)
This machine is terrific. Expensive, but terrific. The features are convenient and very well thought out. It can be customized for 6 different users - each with 9 drinks. Most importantly, it makes great, very hot coffee. I have had this now for 4 months and I could not be happier.

This model is a quantum leap over the Talea (see my review) and Primea, both of which I have owned.

4.0 out of 5 stars Improve your froth, July 7, 2001
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Taylor Classic Cappuccino Frothing Dial Thermometer (Kitchen)
Not a bad thermometer for making the perfect froth for your cappucino. Pluses: Temp range for perfect milk temperature highlighted (140-160 deg. F), reasonably priced. Minuses: It should include a plastic protector tube (to prevent inadvertant stabbings...), and it would be nice if the temp gauge went down to 80 degrees. To get a good froth, try dancing the steam wand at the top of the milk until the temp reaches 100 deg.F. As the foam rises, follow it up. At 100 deg.F, push the wand down into the milk until the temp reaches 140-160 deg.F. Have fun!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good quality but poor functionality, June 3, 2005

This review is from: Taylor Classic Cappuccino Frothing Dial Thermometer (Kitchen)
I own several other Taylor thermometers and they are all very good quality items for their price range. However, this thermometer, though its quality is fine, lacks the temperature markings (i.e., it does not even go down to 100 F!) needed to perfect the steamed milk or frothed milk needed for lattes, cappucinos, or macchiatos. As one of the previous reviewers mentioned, once the temperature reaches 100 F, you should move the steam wand from the surface to the bottom. This is an essential step to get the perfect "microfoam" (not big soap bubbles) that makes for a fantastic latte or cappucino. Bottom line: find a thermometer that has easy to read numbers, a clip, and temperature that goes down to at least 100, but preferably lower.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for froth making, January 8, 2003
By
This review is from: Taylor Classic Cappuccino Frothing Dial Thermometer (Kitchen)
This is an excellent constructed thermometer for making perfect froth. Indicator is tightly sealed and no fogging. And solid stainless-steel construction. I bought it a month ago and have no complain. Make sure you only need it for making froth and not other usages. If you look at the picture, you'll see the it only works at temperature from 120-180F. Good quality and nice price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for what I wanted, January 1, 2011
By

Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
I wanted an automatic espresso machine, and was prepared to spend up to a $1500, but my problem was that I couldn't find anything in that price range that was reliable and had consistently good reviews. The Saeco Talea came up a few times, and I have a friend who has one, but that (like every other model I looked at) seemed to have only 60% or so positive reviews, or no reviews. I wanted something that would make espresso, required little to no maintenance and would last. I own a conventional espresso maker, and a semi-automatic. The conventional (stove top) works just fine, but I rarely use it because it takes too much time when I'm trying to get out the door in the morning. Virtually every seal in the semi-automatic has worn out, it was messy to clean up, and the milk frother was just a disaster (forget the constant cleaning, water bubbles out of it even when I'm not using it).

My wife recently started to like coffee, but she likes lattes and cappuccinos, which is why I... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Very satisfied--highly recommended!, December 29, 2010

This review is from: Nespresso CitiZ C120 Automatic and programmable Espresso and Lungo Machine w/Frother, Fire-engine red (Kitchen)
Let me first say that I did a lot of research before buying the Nespresso CitiZ with Aeroccino. In this price range, everything I read pointed me to this machine. I have been using the machine for one month now.

My reactions after one month:
(1) Very solid, well-made machine. There is not one part of this machine that feels or looks cheap.
(2) The espresso shots and longer shots the CitiZ pulls and pours are delicious. Beautiful crema, full enticing bouquet (if I may be so lame to use that word).
(3) Experiment with a wide variety of Nespresso capsules. My favorite is the Ristretto (10--strongest), but I also like the 9 and eight. The machine comes with a full sampler. Pay close attention to which ones you really like and which ones are merely meh.
(4) Espresso capsules for this machine can be purchased only via the Nespresso Club online. Capsules are 55 cents each and you have to order at least 50 at a time. 2-day shipping is the cheapest they offer and... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Difficult choice, December 7, 2010
By
C. Richards (Pennsylvania) - See all my reviews

Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
As a previous owner of semi-automatic and super-automatic espresso machines, it was difficult accepting this as the best choice to replace them. Although the semi-automatic gives the most control and produces the most satisfying cup, it is a commitment of time and counter space. The Nespresso is a clean, compact and effective design. It produces a surprisingly good cup, and its only drawback is being completely locked in to their coffee pod system of blends and pricing. However, their service is first rate. So, if the objective is a good cup easily and simply prepared with a fairly priced machine, it's a success.
